A few words about By Heather Filby

​

By Heather Filby is a one woman brand focusing on Statement Earrings, Hair Clips and Accessories.

​

Everything you see on this website is made by me in my half studio/half living room in Crystal Palace. I am an independent, British brand trying to bring some new spice to an ever-growing fashion accessory revolution. My pieces aim to lift your mood through glitter, vibrant colour and boldness. They give me immense happiness when I’m creating them, so I hope this transpires to you. 

 

I have been creating for as long as I remember, from creative GCSEs, a year at art college, and studying Costume Interpretation at Arts University Bournemouth. I graduated in 2017 and have been working in the Film and Theatre industry ever since. Making costumes for a wide range of TV series, painting sets for some popular West End productions and supervising a few 'costume heavy' entertainment holiday parks. It's a dream.

During 2020s pandemic, I decided to take the plunge! I have always dreamed of running my own business and I needed an outlet to fulfil all my creative needs; so ‘By Heather Filby’ was born. I started by making Pom Poms - mostly Christmas themed as this was the upcoming season and why not jump on the bandwagon. From Christmas Sprouts, Mini Puddings and so much tinsel I thought my parents would disown me - I had a cracking start to my 'lil biz'.

Quickly the Costume industry opened and I was back behind the sewing machine 9-5 (more like 80 hour weeks but who's counting) and I realised the time restraints were REAL. I then unfortunately had a work injury involving an industrial sewing machine and my finger that put me out of action. This meant the pom-poming had to stop. BUT By Heather Filby wasn't slowing down. I then came across Epoxy Resin and this I feel is when my real biz started (and a whole new love for glitter was born).

My passion for anything bright, anything glittery and anything generally pretty (yes, I’m a magpie) this came alive with resin. The bigger, the sparklier, the BETTER. And this is where By Heather Filby now stands. creating beautiful, unique resin pieces for you to rock!! All my pieces are designed to be conversation starters, to dazzle people as you walk down the street and quite frankly - to make you feel like the bomb!
